An Arctic Extravaganza

This might be our most special dinner yet. 

In the wilds of the Arctic Circle, in the far remote north of Norway, mad Scotsman Roderick Sloan hand dives for Fergus' favourite food: sea urchins. The urchins are seasonal, available in the harshest Arctic months, from September to January. Diving is truly a labour of love. But the Summer months are a special, delicate time in the Arctic, urchins are only half the story, and other marine treats come into their own. 

June 21st sees the Summer Solstice, a time of 24-hour sunlight in the far North. And on June 22nd, to honour this extraordinary time, we are throwing a dinner that is very much Arctic by way of St. JOHN. Roddie is bringing a range of hand-dived delicacies to our table: Mahogany Clams! Seaweeds! Scallops! We will cook them with our own local, seasonal delights... and of course, there will be aquavit!

Our own St. JOHN Champagne will greet you, as will the first of those aquavits: a perfect coriander and dill scented companion to that Herring & Duck Fat on Rye (find out how a similar combination has shaped Fergus' philosophy here). And those Danish wines? We thought you'd be surprised! They come from our friend Anders Selmer of Fiskebar.

Roddie will amaze you with tales of sea eagles and snow falls... Trevor will tell you all about those wines (and aquavits)... Fergus will engage you with stories of Arctic urchin races (see below!)... but really, this menu should be enticement enough.

The Art Car Boot Fair on Sunday!

 

Always a glorious affair, the Art Car Boot Fair returns to the Truman Brewery for 2016, with their most artist-packed event to date. Famous faces such as Tracy Emin, Gavin Turk and Sir Peter Blake sell highly affordable prints and pieces, alongside hosts of exciting new names to discover. There is music, madness, mayhem... and we will be selling our doughnuts!

Not only this, but our St. JOHN wine will be the house pour in the bars on the day, so you are guaranteed a good time.
