Vignobles Guillaume

Vigneron: Xavier Guillaume.

Vignobles Guilaume are from the Franche Comte region in North Eastern France, an area that used to be part of the Kingdom of Burgundy until it seperated and became 'Franche Comte' or 'Free Count' as the count who had fought against the King for many years was given independance and his duchy was renamed in his honour.

We have decided to put these wines in our Burgundy section as although the vineyards are situated some kilometers north-east in Haut-Saone, quality wise they should be compared to the wines of Burgundy. The family own one of the biggest vine nuseries in the world and hold clones from some very famous vineyards and domaines. About 50 years ago they built a winery and began working with these clones to produce their own wines. While only of Vin de Pays status (and price) it is right and justifiable to compare them to wines from around Beaune.

Vin de Pay de Franche Comte

A very well made chardonnay with a toasted apple taste to it. Nicely silky and round.

A MON PERE RESERVE (2005) - VGUCRV05

Vignobles Guillaume, Franche Comte

Variety;   Chardonnay

12.5% ABV

Vin de Pays de Franche Comte

This is great chardonnay, aged in oak and with a few years in bottle to intergrate the oak and soften the fruit into the elegant wine it has now become.

It tastes like a great Burgundy but you cant quite figure out which village, because of course it's not from Burgundy. It is from North Eastern France.

Phenominal Chardonnay at a great price
